Fdf employer engaglement toolkit
Foundation Degree Forward (fdf) hosted a regional workshop in Taunton to introduce the new employer-engagement support package which fdf have
developed to support Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) Institutions with employer engagement activity.
Clare Stoney facilitated the workshop informing the audience of FE and
HEI staff present of the opportunities in the work place for partnership between educational institutions and business. With the shifting focus towards higher-level skills and work-based Foundation degrees there are many new opportunities to be exploited. In order to make the most of these, fdf has developed a resource to facilitate self-assessment and level of readiness to engage with the agenda. The toolkit helps focus an institution's strategy towards the development of employer partnerships within the new agenda.
Success in partnerships is built on long-term
relationships and this support pack is specifically designed to help educational institutions improve the chances of developing sustainable, high quality, and cost-effective relationships. The materials will also be highly beneficial in developing consistency across the institution which will provide evidence of standards and quality for the forthcoming Integrated Quality Enhancement Review (IQER) of HE provision in FE Colleges.
The workshop generated plenty of discussion on how the support package can be used at different levels within the educational institutions; academic rigour using new assessment techniques such as video assessments and mobile phone camera evidence and the requirement for having a dissertation on the top up year.
The toolkit will be available shortly with permission from fdf to be shared across the South West. Please contact Lee Garnett L.Garnett@fdf.ac.uk if you would like an electronic copy.
